Robert Capa

I believe that Robert Capa has great ability to capture the moment when taking photos. These three photos taken by him show some of the great moments he has taken. The coloring of black and white really makes these photos stand out in all of them. The first photo of the tank in the streets and the background is smoking really tells you what is going on in the picture. The angles of all these photos really stand out because it makes the picture greater and richer. The timing of these photos play an important factor as well because if taken at the wrong time these photos wouldn’t be so great. The second photo of all the people in the boat is a great shot of all of them in there. The third photo of the men pushing the flag up and setting it up truly is inspiring. These pictures can tell a thousand words.

JPG vs RAW

JPG is a widely used compressed image format for containing digital images. It is the most common image format used in digital cameras, different operating systems and on the Internet. A compression ratio of 10:1 can be applied in JPG images without losing significant details. That results in smaller file size which allows sharing and storing of images easier. The degree of compression in JPG file is adjustable. That means the image data can be saved with Minimum to maximum compression as per users taste. JPG images are great for photographs and realistic paintings.

A camera raw image file contains minimally processed data from the image sensor of either a digital camera, a motion picture film scanner, or other image scanner. Raw files are named so because they are not yet processed and therefore are not ready to be printed or edited. The JPG processing applied by the camera is designed to produce a good looking image right out of the camera, and this processing cannot be undone. A raw file is done and processed by you so that you can decide how you want it too look like for yourself.

White Balance Read and Write

White Balance is an aspect of photography that many digital camera owners don’t understand or use. You might have noticed when examining shots after taking them that at times images can come out with an orange, blue, yellow etc look to them. The reason for this is that images different sources of light have a different color temperature to them. The range in different temperatures ranges from the very cool light of blue sky through to the very warm light of a candle. We don’t generally notice this difference in temperature because our eyes adjust automatically for it. So unless the temperature of the light is very extreme a white sheet of paper will generally look white to us. However a digital camera doesn’t have the smarts to make these adjustments automatically and sometimes will need us to tell it how to treat different light. In most cases you can get a pretty accurate result using preset white balance modes.

Portrait Photography Tips

  1. watch and learn how light behaves and moves
  2. A curtain can be a great way to diffuse natural light
  3. When using a reflector avoid lighting the model from below
  4. Keep an eye on how the atmosphere of a shot changes with light
  5. Arrive at the location in advance and take your photos at sunset, sunrise, and blue hour
  6. Keep it simple and use light that is already available
  7. Shooting RAW is good to fix anything later in post production if needed
  8. Light is the most strongest in the middle of the day
  9. Daylight makes contrast and shadows more pronounced
  10. Nice handmade lamps can create a magnificent effect when combined with natural light

Digital Collage

This digital collage shows all of my favorite things in here. Every picture in this collage has a purpose as to why its there. They all have a meaning and a story of their own.

I love to play video games and one of the best video games I ever played was God of War. I had a great time playing this game and it was worth the hours I’ve spent on it. That game is a 10 out of 10 for me. Other great games that I’ve played are Minecraft, GTA V, Ghost of Tsushima and Final Fantasy 7. All of those games mean a lot too me and have helped me get through rough times. Those games have given me and my friends and family great memories that I’ll never forget nor regret.

I love wearing chucks. I’ve always worn them since I was a kid and I still wear them. I love the rocky movies. I was born and introduced to those movies as a kid and I enjoy a good Sylvester Stallone movie. I also love to watch regular show. One of the best shows I’ve watched when I was kid and even to this day I watch it. My top three favorite superheroes are Batman, Spiderman, and the Wolverine. I like listening to KISS. Rock and especially 80s rock is one of my favorite genres of music I like to listen to. I like lift weights. It is a hobby of mine that I developed and do not regret. Overall these are most of the things that I love.

Framing Composition

Aperture mode, 3200 ISO, f/5, Focal length 30

Aperture mode, 3200 ISO, Focal length 55, f/5.6

  1. The camera metering mode I used was Aperture because of how sensitive the camera would be towards light
  2. I believe I have strong composition because my camera really focuses on the subject it was shot towards too.
  3. I believe I edited my shots good. I didn’t think it was necessary to go all out with editing these photos because that would distract my photo from its original purpose.
  4. I would probably try to get a better angle and a better frame maybe.
  5. I would say that my photos belong on the blog home page. I don’t believe that my work should be considered the best but its not bad.
